Frank Joseph Knorr passed away peacefully at the age of 90, in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital after 11 months of major health complications. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marie Phyllis Knorr, and children Graham, Heidi (Bruce Fiddler), Eugene, Joe, Al (Josie), Jason (Opal) and Glen, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by sons Aaron (1967) and Jerome (2011).
Frank was born in Bolney, Sask, and raised on a farm near Paradise Hill. In his early years he worked in the oil patch before moving to Port Alberni. In the 7 years he spent on Vancouver Island he worked for MacMillan Bloedel in their paper factory. During this time he also built a house, married Phyllis and had 3 children added to their family.
In 1964 they moved to land they had bought near Fort St. John, B.C. They broke the land and farmed grain and ranched cattle over the next 36 years. Their family also increased in size with another 6 children born to them in Fort St. John.
Frank and Phyllis retired to Enderby, B.C. in 2000 and have spent the last 25 years enjoying Music Festivals, camping and fishing trips, and entertaining friends and family in their home.
Frank was well known for his work ethic, practicality and always wanting to be useful, even when his health was failing.
And despite whatever life brought him, Frank always had a great sense of humour and was ready to pull from a vast repertoire of family friendly stories and jokes to amuse his guests.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In memory of Frank Joseph Knorr there will be a funeral on Saturday Oct 11 at 11:00 am, at St Ann’s RC Church, 1406 George Street, in Enderby, B.C.
Graveside service and reception to follow.
