Obituary

Frances Isobel Laws passed away peacefully on May 1st, 2023, at the age of 96 years.

She will be remembered and sadly missed by her children Bill (Joanne) Laws of Thamesford, ON and Don Laws of Salmon Arm, BC; 4 grandchildren Denae (Jason), Stacie (Kevin), Carmen (Scott) and Aimie; and 4 great grandchildren Evelyn, Josephine, Jenna and Jayden.

Frances was predeceased by her husband Adolph “Hoop” Laws; sister Jean Evans and Krispey (the cat).

Frances was born October 6, 1926, in Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan. She married Hoop Laws in 1947 and together they moved to Abbotsford, BC in 1950. In 1952, she gave birth to Bill and the family moved to Salmon Arm, BC in 1954 where they then added Don to the family in 1957.

Frances worked as a switch board operator in Salmon Arm for many years while Hoop worked at Tappen Valley Timber Sawmill. When the telephone switchboard office closed, she went to work in the Salmon Arm courthouse collecting fines and what have you.

Mom loved her cat Krispey, loved her flowers and flutterbies, and loved her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching a good game of hockey and spent a lot of time at the rink. She was compassionate and thoughtful and had a love for life and people. She touched the lives of all who knew her.

As per Frances’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. In leau of flowers, please make a memorial donation to the SPCA in her honour.
