Evelyn Ruth Lamb passed away peacefully on November 4, 2024, at the age of 94. She leaves behind her beloved children, Marilyn Wallace, Dixie Gullason, Gloria Sirvio, and Debbie Lamb, as well as her brother Ken (Cindy) and 37 grand and great grandchildren and the first great great grandchild to be born in January. She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon Lamb, and her son, Clair Lamb. Evelyn’s life was guided by her mantra: “I did it my way.”
Raised on a farm, Evelyn journeyed through life with resilience and spirit. She rode horses to school and married her true love, Gordon, at the young age of 18. Together, they embarked on a life filled with adventures, and a vibrant family. Evelyn and Gordon moved to Fort Nelson for ten years and then settled in Malakwa in 1966. They raised five children while managing a lively farm that bustled with a large variety of animals. Evelyn was a gifted homemaker; she sewed much of her children’s clothing, preserved countless jars of produce, and always had something delicious baking. Known for her warmth and generosity, Evelyn was affectionately called “Mum” by countless children in the valley. Her home was always open for a cup of coffee, and her kitchen was a haven of comfort and friendship.
In her free moments, Evelyn enjoyed playing Scrabble, Cribbage, crocheting and playing the mouth organ. She and Gordon shared a profound bond, a love that spanned 66 years. Together, they created a home filled with joy, laughter, and a sense of belonging for their children, who remember their childhood as a wonderful gift largely thanks to the dedication and love of their parents.
Evelyn was cherished by her community and will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. A celebration of her life will be held on November 23, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home. Her ashes will be spread in the spring, with the date to be announced.
