Ethel " Irene" Weber Obituary

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Ethel Irene Weber on February 13, 2024, at the Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Center. Irene faced numerous health challenges in her later years, demonstrating unwavering strength until the very end. Now, she is at rest.

Irene will be forever loved and remembered by her children, Shelly Weber and Gayle Weber; grandchildren, Shawna Peters, Shayne McBryan, Kris McBryan, Ilona Nelson, Lyndon McBryan, Jake Langmaid, and Joshua Weber; great-grandchildren, Brooks, Marlie, Ziggy, Benji, Danica, Reid, Mabel, Tatum, Taylor, Krysta, and Naomi; siblings, Gordon (Anna) Mackay, Lorne (Mary) Mackay, Terry (Barb) Mackay, and Don (Sandy) Mackay, and many numerous extended family members.

Irene was predeceased by her husband, Duane Weber; son, Brent Weber; grandson, Sean Weber; parents Murdock and Ethel Mackay; and sister Marion Turner.

To Irene, family meant everything. Her children and grandchildren held the most significant place in her heart, and their love and presence brought her immense joy. Irene adorned her wall with a cherished family collage, a visual testament to the love and memories shared with her beloved family. The times spent together, whether it was berry picking or creating lasting memories at the family cabin in the Shuswap, will forever be treasured.

Irene had a vibrant social life and found great happiness in the company of her friends. Her infectious laughter and radiant smile brought warmth and joy to all those fortunate enough to know her. Irene's passion for sports was undeniable, and she was an avid fan of various sports. Her exceptional skills and dedication to basketball earned her a well-deserved place of honor in the British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame.

While Irene's physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. May she rest in peace, forever remembered for her unwavering strength, love for her family, infectious laughter and smile.

The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Seasons Retirement Home and the staff at the Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Center for the compassionate care shown to Irene during her stay.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made in Irene’s name directly to the Drayton Valley Hospital and Care center Dialysis Unit.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Golden, BC on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 11:00 am with Father Aaron De Dios celebrant.
