Edward Henry DeGagne

It is with extreme sadness the family of Ed DeGagne’ announce his passing of September 3, 2025, at the age of 82, at Durand Manor in Golden BC.

Ed was born May 3, 1943, to Ulysses and Emilia DeGagne’ in Fort Frances, Ontario. He was one of 12 siblings raised on the family farm. He met and dated his future wife, Karen Dustin, and followed her family to Golden, where they were married on December 1965. Together they raised Tim, Mike and Theressa in Nicholson. Ed owned and operated his backhoe/excavator business for over 50 years and their RV Park with Karen for 18 years.  He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and watching hockey - especially the Canucks. While wintering in Arizona, trips to Pheonix to watch them play was #1 priority.

Ed was predeceased by his parents, Ulysses and Emilia; mother and father-in-law, Vera (Dustin) Volard and Ken Dustin. He was also predeceased by his brothers Roger, Vinton, Ray, Leo and Jake DeGagne’; and his sisters Aurice Manaigre, Louise Cull and Yvonne Smelt.  He follows his brother -in-law Armand Manaigre, Richard Smelt, sister-in-law Susan DeGagne’, and his daughter-in-law Megan Bentley.

Ed is survived by his wife Karen; his son’s Tim and Mike; and daughter, Theressa (Rob) Gelette. He leaves behind his grandchildren, Cole (Pam), Alex (Sara), Tamara, Emma (Rhys), Keaton (Dani), Wyatt and Sierra; and his great-grandsons, Logan, Oliver, and Cooper.

Left to mourn are his brothers Paul (Jan), Marcel (Valdean); sister, Emily (Bob Bishop); brothers-in-law Roy Cull, Brian Dustin and Bill (Cecilia) Dusti; sisters-in-law Janis (DeGagne’) Nelson, Doris, Arlene, and Betty DeGagne’, Susan (Dustin) Johnson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A small graveside service was held on September 20, 2025 in Golden BC. The family would appreciate any donations in Ed’s name, be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Cancer Society.
