Doroteja (Dorothy) Matulin

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Doroteja (Dorothy) Matulin on
November 2, 2023 at the age of 89. She passed away at St Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital in
Edmonton with her daughter by her side. It is hard to say goodbye.

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Ivan, her sons Stephen and Lou, her grandson
Stephen and her parents and her brother in Croatia. She is survived by her daughter Stefanija
(Stephanie) of Edmonton.

Dorothy was born February 3, 1934 in Donji Vidovec, Croatia. She immigrated to Canada in
1959 with her two elder children Stephanie and Stephen to join her husband Ivan.

Her life had many obstacles yet through it all she overcame hardships and remained passionate
about life and kept her priorities straight. She fiercely cared for her family, friends, thought of
others before herself and worked in the forest industry for 23 years before retiring. She was
one of the strongest people her family knew.

One of the most important things in her life was gardening and she took great pride in her
flowers. She felt a peacefulness and satisfaction as she cared for and nurtured her flowers.

Prayers will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Golden, BC on Thursday, November 23rd at
7:00 pm. Father Aaron de Dios will celebrate the Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Friday,
November 24, 2023 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Golden Cemetery.
