Doreen Joy Zilkie

Doreen was born on September 20th, 1935, to Roy and Rose McMahon in Revelstoke, BC, the fifth of their six children. She married Fred Zilkie on October 14th, 1961. They resided in Salmon Arm since 1964, where they raised their family. While raising her own children, she also worked in the childcare industry. She was proud to be from Revelstoke and enjoyed country and western music and watching hockey.

Travelling was something she truly enjoyed, whether visiting family and friends, sightseeing, or chaperoning for school trips. Her travel experiences were many, highlighted by a cross-country trip to Quebec and a visit to New York City. During her 90 years, she was always ready and willing to try any activity that came her way. 

She was a fierce advocate for all, especially those with special needs.

She was predeceased by her husband, who passed away September 27, 2016. 

She is survived by her children, Ellen Belinda and Brent (Mel), and two grandchildren, Jordyn and Tyren. She spent her life devoted to Jehovah, taking care of her family, and loved spending time with and watching her grandchildren grow up. 

The family would like to thank the doctors and care staff who cared for her. She will be greatly missed.
