With great sadness the family of Donald Shykora shares news of his passing. Donny will always be remembered for his kind heart, love of nature and warm smile. He is survived by his daughters Deanna Miller and Crista Shykora; his siblings Lynn Chaplin, Jim Shykora and Dianne Sawyer; his mother Mabel Shykora and many grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends that he cared for deeply. Donny was passionate about sports and played ball in his younger years. His daughter Crista remembers her father coaching softball. He was always eager to teach, push harder, share strategy and do it with patience - not always with the attention of pre-teen girls. An avid fisherman, Don was in his boat as much as possible, often at White Lake. Gentlehearted, he had a place in his yard where smaller birds could feed away from the larger birds that would take all the seeds. His daughter Deanna remembers walks in the forest, where dad taught her the names of all the trees and tracks they came upon. Spotting an animal before he did was a great accomplishment! Donny was never too busy to stop and say hi, exchange a story, talk sports or debate the latest news. The family will be holding a gathering of remembrance in the spring to share stories and love with everyone he left behind. Announcements will be made in local papers and social media.
