The family of Donald Harding is deeply saddened to announce his passing on January 11, 2025 in Revelstoke, BC at the age of 91 years.
He was born in Norris Point, NL on November 14, 1933 where he lived and worked. It was there that he met and married the love of his life, Rosamond who came to Norris Point to teach. They lived in Newfoundland for 58 years until retiring to Bedford, Nova Scotia. In July of 2024, we finally convinced dad that he was old enough to move into a retirement home and they moved into Moberly Manor in Revelstoke, BC.
Having grown up during the depression, he valued people more than possessions. He was a strong, determined man with a zest for life; he showed his perseverance to the end. He loved telling jokes and always had one ready for any occasion. He was a jack of all trades and if he couldn’t fix it, it couldn’t be fixed. He loved travelling and being on the move, was always in a rush and on time for everything. He especially enjoyed his visits with family in Ontario and BC. He had a passion for card games and played with anyone who would join in. He never missed a day without at least one game of cribbage.
He is predeceased by his parents, his two sons; Wade (Karen) and David (Debbie), his siblings; Tom, George, Harriett, Mabel, Elizabeth and Shirley. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years; Rosamond, his children; Glenda Eddy (Roger) of Revelstoke, BC and Dennis (Lorraine) of Cambridge, Ontario, brother; Milton (Judy) Prescott in Ontario and sister; Bertha of Brockville, Ontario. He leaves 11 grandchildren; Vanessa (Matt), Jessica (Larry), Zachary, Bjorn, Ehren (Emily), Erika, Christopher (Heather), Tyler (Caeleigh), Natasha (Bryan), Andrew (Julie) and Joshua as well as 15 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and an abundance of friends.
The family would like to thank the nurses at Queen Victoria Hospital as well as Dr. Molder, Dr. Crisfield and Dr. Deschner for their exceptional care and compassion over the last couple of days.
