It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Scott Darling of Blind Bay, B.C. Don was born in New Westminster, B.C. and grew up in White Rock, B.C. which was a great place to grow up, with summers spent at the beach. The family moved to Kelowna in 1967 when his father got a job teaching automotive at Okanagan College. Don quit school and his first job was laying floors and carpets, which he did for a long time. That job would eventually lead to an interest in and aptitude for renovating and constructing houses for many years. Don eventually finished school and took a civil engineering course and worked for the Regional District of Central Okanagan. Don moved to a position in Summerland as Director of Engineering. He did consulting work for Lillooet until he retired after a very successful career.
Don loved sports and played racquetball, squash and had a passion for golf. He also loved sports on T.V. Over many years Don adopted numerous golden retrievers – Joey, Charlie, Lucas – and currently, Brodie who will miss his daily ride on the golf cart and runs on the golf course.
Don is survived by his love, Rhonda, his sisters Sherry (Andy) and Pam (Rob), niece Shannon (Jason) and nephew Cameron.
Missed now and always
Love you Sweetie
