Olga “Diane” Barnett, 72, passed away due to medical complications on February 27th at her home in Revelstoke, BC. She was born on December 3, 1953 in Prince Albert, SK. to William Chambul and Helen Wojciechowski. She was the fifth oldest of seven children, and due to circumstances beyond her control, she was one of five siblings sent to live in an orphanage in Prince Albert, SK. She left the orphanage at the age of 14 and faced years of trying to survive on her own, which gave her the strong independence she needed to forge her path in life.
She met the love of her life, Edward Barnett and married him in Revelstoke, BC in August 1983. They enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing & bowling where Diane won several trophies. They belonged to the Rod & Gun Club where Diane won 2nd largest trout in 1986 and largest rainbow in Arrow Lakes in 1987. She was lost when Ed passed away in December. 1994.
Diane enjoyed her many dogs over the years – Chico, Snoopy and Chico # 2 which passed in Dec. 2025. Over the years, she worked as a chambermaid, waitress and babysitter. She enjoyed cross-stitch earlier in life, and also loved bingo, scratch tickets, and visiting casinos. The highlight of her year was travelling to Cranbrook, BC to visit her grandchildren, friends and play the Casino.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Edward Barnett, her parents, sister, Marilyn Baranisky, brothers, Robert, Boris and Don Chambul. She is survived by her daughter, Alisha Borley, her father, Ray Borley and (Peter Barisenkoff ) of Salmo, BC; daughter, Tammy Davis of Revelstoke, BC, and son Richard Barnett, (Sarah) of Cranbrook, BC. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Justin Davis (Carley) of Leduc, AB, Zoey Davis of Revelstoke, BC, and Joshua and Ava Barnett of Cranbrook, BC. She is also survived by her brother, Bill Chambul (Pam) of Edmonton, AB, sister, Beverly Gingras of Boyle, AB, and three nephews, Cory, Bobby-Lee & Dylan Gingras; brother-in-law, Todd Baranisky, sister-in-laws, Jeannine Chambul and Lynda Chambul.
Diane will be cremated and laid to rest beside Edward in the Mountain View Cemetery in Revelstoke, BC. A small family gathering will take place at the cemetery on Saturday, March 21st at 11:00 a.m.
