Our family is devastated to announce that Diana passed away on April 11 at the age of 65.
Diana was born and raised in Victoria, BC. She moved to Revelstoke in 1980. She immediately fell in love with Revelstoke and the surrounding mountains and it became her home for the rest of her life.
Over the years, Diana became a familiar face around town. Always having a smile and a cheery hi to all she met.
Diana became an avid cross country skier. She couldn’t wait for the snow to fall every winter. Listening to her music on her Sony walkman, she put hundreds of kms on her skis each year. She was a proud member of the Revelstoke Nordic Club. Her favourite places to ski were Mt. MacPherson and Sovereign Lake in Vernon. She was always sad when it came time to put the skis away at season’s end.
In 1990, Diana and Howard were blessed with a son, Brad. Diana’s parents finally had the grandchild they thought they would never have. Many summers were spent in campsites around BC, going to Disneyland and travelling to Victoria to see Grandma & Grandpa.
Diana worked for the City of Revelstoke making it her career for 35 years. Over the years, she worked at City Hall, worked as a labourer on the outside crew and finished her career
working at the Community Centre. She was very proud of the fact that she ran a sidewalk plow and drove a tandem axle dump truck hauling snow in the winter.
Upon her retirement, Diana and Howard took many trips. Diana, always the planner, had itineraries and hotel bookings, route maps and food in the cooler. They had many trips to Las Vegas, road trips throughout the United States, Panama Canal and Alaskan cruises and Hawaii. They loved music concerts and that took them to lots of different cities to see their favourite bands.
Left to mourn are her husband; Howard, son; Brad, sister; Maxine (Shawn), Howard’s siblings and extended family as well as countless friends.
We are comforted that Diana is with her parents and grandparents in heaven and many friends who have gone before her. She took her journey on a star-filled night, with a full moon providing a clear way home.
Thank you Diana for sharing your life with us - you will always be in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, Diana’s family is requesting donations to the Canadian Cancer Research Society, the Alzheimer’s Society of BC or a charity of your choice.
