On Saturday, August 19, 2023 God called Dennis Ward Beaulieu home. Dennis was born March 10, 1948 in the Matsqui, BC hospital. He lived a full, rich life for 75 years. He worked for many years as a bricklayer all over British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario. In his later years he studied to become a chef and worked in a prison in Abbotsford BC and in a PCH home in Manitoba as well as a small engine repairman in Winnipeg. His favourite occupation these last few years was being the proud owner of the Viewpoint RV Park and Cottages in Salmon Arm, BC. It hurt him terribly when he had to sell the campground after his stroke. He especially missed driving his John Deere tractor all over the yard gathering garbage, visiting with the guests, clearing snow from the driveway or giving his grandchildren rides in the bucket.
He had many interests and hobbies ranging from raising rabbits, to horse racing, model trains, muscle cars, being a pilot, playing drums, country music, Elvis and let’s not forget his Montreal Canadiens.
In July, 2019 he suffered a severe stroke and was confined to a wheelchair. Many will remember him driving that electric wheelchair to the wharf and Christmas Island with his Montreal Canadiens cap placed firmly on his head and with his wife Carol valiantly trying to keep up behind him. He always had to stop for a chance to see if the eagles were perched in their favourite tree.
These last years his favourite place to be was Harmony Haven. It truly did become his Haven. The staff there are so very kind and caring not only to the individuals in their care but to the caregivers as well. Setting up people of same interests and health, who attended the days he did, helped him to forge new friendships. What a blessing Harmony Haven is. Dennis was also able to get his community bath in the same building and we want to thank Interior Health for that blessing and for leaving in place the same caregiver week after week. It gave him so much peace to know who was giving the bath. Thanks staff at Harmony Haven and bath care.
Dennis and Carol also attended a Bible study along with a few close friends from BEFC they attended together. They studied Psalms 23 the whole winter. It brought him much joy and comfort.
Dennis was raised in a Christian home. He accepted the Lord in his childhood. There were many years he struggled with his faith as life with it’s numerous twists and turns brought him much joy but also much heartache. A few years before Dennis and Carol were married he came back to the Lord and over these last years of his life his faith has grown. He especially loved the old hymns sung by his favourite country singers. He was able to reconnect with his children and they gave him forgiveness and acceptance back into their lives and brought him so much joy along with the grandchildren.
Dennis leaves behind his loving wife Carol of 21 years. As a blended family he had 6 children and 16 grandchildren. As well he leaves behind one brother, Bryan.
