It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Dave Soucy on September 30th at the Shuswap Lake General Hospital in Salmon Arm, British Columbia. Uncle Dave left us peacefully and surrounded by the love of his family. He was 82 years old.
Dave was born on June 6, 1943 in Stratton Ontario. He moved out west with the family and started working in the oil fields. After retirement he purchased a home just outside of Sicamous B.C. Swansea Point was where he spent about the last 35 years.
Uncle Dave loved working in his garden, laying outside on his swing while reading his books and listening to old country music.
He was diagnosed with leukemia several years ago, and fought hard to beat the disease. It took so much out of him. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with cancer again and chose to use MAID to end the pain.
Dave was predeceased by his mother and father, Elizabeth and Joseph Soucy as well as brothers and sisters, Raymond, Bud, Ben, Larry, Lorne, Edwin, Dan, Claire, Ileene, Dale, and his very special niece/best friend Helen Williamson. Survived by one sister, Teresa.
He is forever missed by his niece Linda and her children Logan, Cassandra and Elizabeth, a very special sister-in-law Jean as well as his numerous nieces, nephews and sister-in-law’s. He will be remembered by many friends from Turner Valley Alberta and Sicamous British Columbia.
Thank you to the doctors and nurses on Floor 2 and Floor 4 for their amazing love and compassion to Uncle Dave but to also his family that stayed by his side. Special thank you to nurse Roger for his dedication and care. Thank you to Bowers Funeral Service for their compassion and care. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of a service, please take a moment to remember Uncle Dave while having a beer in his honour!
