Clive Callaway Obituary

Clive Callaway, Born in Buckinghamshire, England, Nov 16, 1943.

On the evening of February 1st, 2026, with family at his side, Clive Callaway peacefully passed away. In his final hours, he expressed gratitude for life and for the beauty of the world around him. That night, a full moon shone brightly, and the stars seemed to light his spirit’s way. Clive often spoke of his deep appreciation for the Earth, the universe, and humanity’s place within it.

Clive was a thoughtful and passionate man, known for his strong ideals, creativity, and lifelong commitment to environmental stewardship. He was also a complex individual whose life included personal challenges and periods of struggle, shaping both his path and his relationships.

In the late 1980s, Clive moved to the Shuswap region and made his home on the shores of Gardom Lake, where he jointly operated Twin Island Resort Centre with his previous partner Sarah Weaver. His years living and working on the water inspired his later contributions as a co-founder of the Living by Water Project and as co-author of "On the Living Edge: Your Handbook for Waterfront Living". His work with Sarah Weaver in shoreline conservation and environmental education was recognized nationally with the 2002 Canadian Environment Award – Gold Medal in the Clean Water category.

Clive also held a deep love for music, poetry, dance, and the arts, and believed strongly in the importance of human connection to nature. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Cathryn Rankin, son Mikael Callaway, step-daughter Rebekah Kipp, sister Janis Brown, and extended family both in Canada and abroad. Clive’s life and work reflect both the beauty and the complexity of being human, and his legacy continues in the natural places he cared for and the ideas he shared.

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to Dr. Warren Bell and the healthcare team at Salmon Arm General Hospital who showed unwavering compassion, professionalism, and integrity while supporting Clive’s journey in health and wellbeing.
