Clement "Clem" Gadbois Obituary

Our family is in complete shock and extremely saddened to announce the passing of our brother, uncle and friend Clem Gadbois.  Clement Ralph Gadbois was born November 17, 1950 in Revelstoke BC and died November 17th, 2025 on his 75th birthday, in Revelstoke BC.  Clem took all his schooling in Revelstoke and lived his entire life there.  His working career centred around the forestry industry where he was employed in various capacities.  He developed many life long friendships whether on Parks Canada crew maintenance, Downie Street Sawmill or as a Scaler at the Shelter Bay Log Dump.

Clem’s favourite winter past time included playing hockey goalie for the Revelstoke Selkirks and then onto men’s commercial hockey.  He also enjoyed many seasons of baseball; who would’ve thought that short, older, round guy could run and hit so well!  Fishing was one of his favourite pastimes; the fish were always safe when he was out fishing.  Clem loved factual information and his favourite books were the bathroom readers and learning from Jeopardy every night at 7pm.

Clem’s life outside of Revelstoke was centred around his most happy place of all; his cabin on Okanagan Lake.  He was known as the Mayor of Beach, all the while mentoring many cabin folks on the ins and outs of cabin life.  Whether around the fire pit, happy hour, or group dinners, he was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand along with an added note of sarcasm. The lake hummingbirds alway knew Clem’s feeders would be full and he enjoyed watching their antics.

A glimmer into Clem’s serious side shows he very recently attended the Remembrance Day service in honour of both his mother and father who served in World War II.  From the service, he proceeded to the Revelstoke cemetery to lay poppies on his parent’s grave and visit various other friends that have passed.

Clem is survived by his brothers, Edmond Gadbois (Patricia); Brian Gadbois (Michelle); Patrick Gadbois; Maurice Gadbois (Diana); his sister, Pauline Pallesen (Barry).  Uncle Clem is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; all who held a very important place in his heart.  Clem is also survived by his special friend Karen Maloney.  Clem was predeceased by his parents George and Laurette Gadbois, his sister Yvette Mitchell and his sister in law Betty Pinko.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Clem on Sunday November 23, 2025, 1pm, at the Revelstoke Senior Centre.  As well there will be a life celebration at Clem’s cabin in the summer of 2026.

Memorial donations in Clem’s memory may be made to BC Children's Hospital Foundation.  938 West 28th Avenue, Vancouver, BC, V5Z 4H4
