Chiara Tress Obituary

Chiara Tress passed away at the Golden and District Hospital on May 30, 2021 with her husband and three children by her side. Chiara was born in Golden, BC on April 14, 1966 to Pasquale and Maria Longo. Chiara grew up and was a lifelong resident of Golden.

Chiara and Glen were married on May 20, 1989. Chiara was very family oriented and that was what she lived for. In 1981 Chiara became an older sister to Lisa when she was 15 years old, her love for Lisa was endless. In April of 1992 her first daughter Karmela was born. Two years later Tiana was born in May of 1994 and four Years later Raylen arrived in April of 1998. In January of 2016 Chiara became a “Grantie” to her sister Lisa’s daughter Aria. She was the sparkle of aunties eye.

Most summers were spent at Mara where Chiara and Glen had a seasonal spot right on the lake. This is where they enjoyed countless boat and beach days as a family. They took a number of family vacations including Disneyland, Las Vegas, Silverwood, Italy, Kelowna, and everyone's most favorite Hawaii.

In April of 2019 Chiara and Glen went to Hawaii for 3 weeks together and celebrated 30 years of marriage. This was their first vacation kid free since their honeymoon. Soon after they welcomed another son Matt. Karmela and Matt were married in June 2019.

Lucky for Chiara, Matt had the same love for gambling and finally had someone who appreciated casinos as much as she did. Her devotion to the casino was strong, it even forced Tiana into a parking ticket. She often bribed her kids and her sister by giving them $50.00 to gamble with her.

In September 2016 the journey began, Chiara was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer and treatments started soon after. Chiara was positive, determined and a fighter. Between family time and treatments, Kelowna became her second home. Chiara became a member of the Canadian Cancer Society. In 2020 Chiara started the Tulip Trial. She was able to be a part of a cancer trial that will help to save the lives of many people. Chiara never gave up, right till the very end! Through all the hard times, Chiara always stayed positive and looked for the good in things.

Chiara was a fighter and the importance of her family gave her the determination to make sure she was here for their 32nd wedding anniversary, and all of their Birthdays. May 30th will now be a day to Celebrate both Chiara’s life and Glen’s Birthday.

Chiara is survived by her loving husband Glen, Daughter Karmela (Matt), Daughter Tiana, Son Raylen, Parents Pasquale and Maria, Sister Lisa (Francis), Niece Aria, as well as countless other family members.

Chiara will never be forgotten and remembered by so many. We will remember Chiara by her infectious laugh and countless memories.

The family would like to thank all the Nurses and Doctors at the Golden and District Hospital for taking exceptional care of Chiara. A special thank you to Dr. Larson- Soles for taking care of Chiara and being there for her throughout the journey.
