With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Carter Lawrence, who left us far too soon at the age of 19.
Born in Calgary, Alberta, Carter grew up in Salmon Arm, BC, where he built a life filled with love, friendship, and adventure. He was a passionate athlete, dedicating 14 years to Salmon Arm Minor Hockey while also enjoying basketball, golf, and many other sports. His competitive spirit was matched only by his kindness and warmth, always ready for a conversation or a laugh with anyone who crossed his path.
Carter was just beginning his career as an electrician, following in his father’s footsteps. He was excited for the future and eager to learn, embracing every challenge with determination and heart.
Above all, Carter loved his family and friends deeply. He made time for those he cared about, never hesitating to lend a hand or brighten someone’s day with his infectious energy and unforgettable smile—a smile that could light up a room and put anyone at ease. Whether he was cracking a joke, sharing a heartfelt moment, or simply being his cheerful self, Carter’s presence had a way of making those around him feel valued and loved. He cherished camping trips, boating, and vacations spent with loved ones, creating memories that will live on forever.
Carter is survived by his parents, Andrew and Jenny Lawrence; his brother, Griffin Lawrence; and his grandparents, Larry Fitzpatrick, Kathy Lawrence, Lynn Fitzpatrick, and Ralph Usas. He will also be deeply missed by his uncles and aunts—Michael Fitzpatrick, Adrienne Fitzpatrick, and Jason Lawrence—as well as many cousins, numerous friends, teammates, coaches, and mentors.
Carter’s impact on those who knew him will never fade. His kindness, laughter, and love for life will be remembered always.
A celebration of Carter’s life will be held at Shuswap Community Church, 3151 6 Ave NE, Salmon Arm, BC, on March 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM.
In honor of Carter’s passion for trades and helping others, a scholarship has been established in his memory. Donations to the Carter Lawrence Memorial Scholarship, which will support a student pursuing trades or vocational studies, can be made by contacting the Salmon Arm Minor Hockey office at saminorhockey@shaw.ca or calling 250-832-0095.
Carter, your kindness and smile will be with us forever.
