Bonnie Linda Kantymir

In Loving Memory - It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Bonnie Linda Kantymir (nee Stewart), beloved Wife, Sister, Mother, Grandmother, and Friend. Bonnie is survived by her husband Walter Kantymir, children Ken (Karleen), Lori (Robert), Patty (Shane), and James (Jessie), and grandchildren Dixon, Nate, Sienna, Stella, Sebastian, Falken, and Adlai. She was the heart of our family and will be greatly missed.

Bonnie was born in Kelowna, BC and spent much of her early life in the Chilcotin, where her parents owned and operated Stewart's Lodge & Camps on Nimpo Lake. She was an intrepid outdoorswoman and loved adventures on horseback and cross-country skiing. Early in their marriage, Bonnie & Walter bought undeveloped land in Kleena Kleene which they slowly transformed into a working ranch. They started their family in this remote environment, which was a lot of hard work (no running water or electricity for the first few years), and Bonnie grew a bountiful garden despite the cold climate. They moved to Williams Lake in 1985 for their kids to attend high school, where Bonnie discovered her love for quilting. Bonnie & Walt eventually moved to Enderby for retirement where they enjoyed swimming in the river with their family, growing a big garden, and spending time with friends and extended family. Bonnie was close to her siblings and loved her "sister's trip" each year.

Bonnie's life was characterized by her strength and determination, her delight in and love for her family, and her steadfast faith in God. She was full of unconditional love and her legacy is evident in the close and loving family she leaves behind. She loved her community in Enderby and volunteered with the food bank, was part of the quilter's guild, and attended the Enderby Chapel. Her family would like to thank the Enderby Chapel for their compassionate and generous support for Walter and family, the meals and cards shared in the days following her death have been a tangible kindness to us.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Enderby Chapel on April 29th at 2pm. You are welcome to share a memory of her on the Tribute Wall of this site as well.
