Beverley Cawston Obituary

Beverley Jean Cawston passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025, at the age of 87. Jeannie was born on April 18, 1938, to Andy and Mary Winkler.

Jeannie was born in Princeton BC and was raised in Hedley BC on the farm. Later the family moved to Keremeos where her dad worked for West Kootney Power.

She met and married her first love Sidney John Scott who was a constable for the RCMP. They had two girls, Andrea and Phyllis, together before Sidney passed away on her birthday. Jeannie returned to Keremeos and later married again, bringing the family to Salmon Arm. They adopted a son Kenny to add to the family and loved him dearly.

Jeannie worked several jobs throughout her life and finished off her career with Jim Beblow dental mechanic as an assistant to him.

Jeannie spent her vacations visiting family, she always had time to stop in and say hi when driving past as well as staying a few days to help if needed. She enjoyed many happy occasions up Ashanola fishing and camping with her family.

Jeannie met her love, Mark Cawston, at her dad’s funeral in Keremeos in 1992 and quickly married him, enjoying 30 years of happiness together. They lived in Salmon Arm until she retired and then moved to Enderby beside her best friend Ellinor. While living in Enderby, they met their cherished friends Mike/ Judy and Nancy/Gerry. When they couldn’t live on their own anymore, they moved to Armstrong to the Pioneer square assisted living where they were happy to have their friend Jane in their lives.

Mark and Jeannie were predeceased by their granddaughter, Racheal Birch and son Kenny Blackburn. Mark and Jeannie both suffered some medical problems and were moved to Bastion Place for the remainder of their lives, where they were often referred to as the love train.

Jeannie had a deep connection with the lord and practiced being a good Christian. Jeannie will be remembered for her way of gathering friends wherever she went and of how proud she was of all her family. She loved playing cards, crib, canasta and many more and had at least one 29 hand, she also enjoyed bingo, knitting, reading, bowling and making apple pies. She was very proud she had won first place at the Armstrong fair for the best pie!

Jeannies favorite flower was roses, she loved her rose bushes and was proud of how they looked in full bloom. Mark always presented her with a single rose on her birthday that she proudly displayed.

Jeannie leaves behind her daughters Andrea Jackson (Bruce), Phyllis Jorgensen (Fleming), Daughter in law Sara Inskip, stepdaughters Teresa Cawston (Mark), Brenda Cawston, Cheryl Cawston (Chris), Stepson Bruce Cawston (Linda) as well as her much loved grandchildren Erin (Geoff), Shauna (Kyle), Lindsey, Mitchell, Kenzie, Rebecca and great grandchildren Andrew, Ava, Sydney, Ryann, Edric and Levin.

Jeannie will be sorely missed by her siblings Dallas, Donnie and Margaret Ann (Vic) and many loved nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank her caregivers at Bastion Place and Dr. Breugem for her excellent care. At Jeannie’s request there will not be a service.
