It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Sharon Marchand on July 28, 2024 at the age of 75 at home in Sicamous, BC after a lengthy battle with heart disease.
Sharon was a loving, caring, courageous woman like no other. She was an unforgettable mom, sister, auntie, friend & grandmother.
Born on November 27, 1948 to Lena and Robert Chartrand in Blairmore, AB and resided in Hillcrest until her high school years where she moved to Calgary, AB with her family and attended St Francis high school. After high school she attended business school where she met and created many lifelong relationships.
Sharon had a profound love for adventure and the outdoors. This love transferred to her children and grandchildren creating a universe of memories and experiences cherished by all.
Sharon was known for opening her home to the many when needed and wanted. There was never a time where someone wasn’t welcome for a meal or just a bit of kindness showing us how a bit of compassion would make the world of difference to someone.
One of her weaknesses was her love of all animals and welcomed many into her home with the gentle kindness and love they needed.
The focal point of Sharon’s life was always her children. Her strong determination, strength and resilience of raising her children on her own made her the strongest woman we had the privilege of ever knowing. This also turned to her grandchildren for which she cherished, spoiled and adored.
Sharon is predeceased by her parents Lena Chartrand (Gaudry) and Robert Chartrand, as well as her granddaughter Emily Ann Casey.
She is survived by her brother Dennis (Belinda) Chartrand, Children Laurie (Denis), Chance (Leah), Denny, Deane (Jason), & Erin. Her adored grandchildren Alixandra, Kiara, Hayden, Evie, Lila, Kai and Brodie. Nieces and nephews, Rae, Ryan, Erin, Shane, Andrew and Tristan. Many aunts, uncles and cousins. As well as dear friends Bev and Hans Piht. And always the extended family she created.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Palliative Home nurses as well as the home support team. With your guidance and support you all made it possible for mom to be comfortable at home where she wanted to be. A special thank you to Jessica for the friendship that was created between you and mom. You made her day when you came.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Being a large supporter of the SPCA, donations to your local branch can be made in mom’s honour.
