It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Johnston on June 21, 2024, in Kamloops, BC, at the age of 82, after battling dementia and heart failure.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Danny Johnston; her children, Kathleen Johnston, Laura Easterbrook (Doug); grandchildren, Ashley Jorgenson (Ryan), Kathryn Easterbrook, and Kevin Easterbrook; her nephew, Richard Johnston (Venus); and her sister-in-law, Marlene.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents Chester and Alice Waddell, brother Gerry and sister Thelma.
Barbara loved to share stories of growing up on the family farm in Sperling, Manitoba. She loved the animals, skating, and all her friends in the area. In her early teens, her family moved to the “big city” of Winnipeg. She met and married the love of her life, Danny, in 1961. Together, they had two children. In 1974, the family moved to Calgary, and ten years later, Barbara and Danny returned to their beloved Winnipeg. In 2022, due to health issues, they relocated to BC to be closer to their daughters.
Barbara was a very artistic and creative person with a warm and loving nature. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
