The Story Teller
Tony Pike, (Anthony Peace Pike - March 27, 1943-May 20, 2025) of Sicamous B.C. passed away at the age of 82. Parkinson’s and Lewy Body Dementia took control of his body and he succumbed to pneumonia.
Born in England, schooled in Calgary, Alberta where he met his high school sweetheart, Connie Kruger. Married in 1965, they raised their two children in Lethbridge area where the happiest of times were had on an acreage in Moon River Estates until moving to Calgary to expand their business in 1998. They partnered, along with their children, successful Medical and Surgical Supply businesses in Lethbridge and Calgary until retirement to Sicamous in 2019 to their summer happy place.
Survived by his family, wife Connie Pike, Son, Erin Patrick Pike (Dare Maurik), Grand Daughters Morgan Pike (Kerrigan Braught), and Quincy Pike as well as Son-in law Jay Schainholz. Tony was pre-deceased by daughter Carla Pike-Schainholz, who was killed by a drunk driver in 1994.
When Tony started slowing in his gait and demeanor, he was nick-named “Senor Rapido”, however, was never too shy to share his thoughts……..”Everyone is entitled to my opinion!”
He and Connie were fortunate enough to travel to many places and ports in the world, either to business conventions throughout Canada and U.S.A including Hawaii. Cruising lead them across the ocean to many ports in England, France, Spain, Italy, Greece and Alaska. Through the later years, much time was spent in Mexico with family and friends.
He leaves a legacy of being an entrepreneur, businessman, historian, storyteller with wit and humour, writing poetry, guiding his children and grandchildren. He was a philanthropist and a legend.
The Calgary Rehabilitation Society benefited from the Pike-Schainholz Memorial Foundation that Tony, along with his wife Connie, had established in memory of their Daughter, Carla. From a multitude of improvements to the facility, to Art Classes and volunteering, they were heavily involved with the folks there. He also served on the Board.
Just before he left us, he was content knowing his family was around him for his last days and he left with love in his heart. There is sadness in ours, however giving his wifey a kiss goodbye, Tony and Connie fulfilled their vows…..”until death do us part”……. . Truly, Tony, Dad, G-Pa, will be missed by all who loved him. A bitter – sweet …….“the end.”
