Amy Cashato Obituary

It is with sadness that the family of Amy Cashato beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend announce her peaceful passing on Thursday March 24, 2022, at 93 years of age.

Amy is survived by her daughter Janice, son Robert and daughter-in-law Kathy, grandchildren Reed and Ashton and grand puppy Mikey.

Amy was predeceased by her mother Mary Rickett, her husband Dave, her son-in-law John Ramlall as well as siblings Mark, Ellen, Rose, Vi and Willie.

Amy was born and lived by the Blue Nose Mountain near Lumby for many years until she moved to Revelstoke where she met and later married her husband Dave in 1949.  Amy had many professions over the years; waitress, cook, hotel manager, tree planter and boxwood picker. She was never scared of hard work doing whatever it took to get the job done, a trait she passed on to her family.  She always said her greatest achievement was making a home for her family, raising her children, and later becoming a proud Grama which was the best time of her life.  She felt so fortunate that she was able to see her grandchildren often and watch them grow into young adults that she was so proud of.

Amy loved the outdoors, whether it was mushroom or huckleberry picking with friends there was always a good story and a laugh that came back from one of those trips involving bears or other assorted jokes on newcomers out with them that day.  Her garden was her sanctuary and she loved working it for many years.  Her kitchen was always filled with those she loved, her nieces, nephews, and friends who she made so easily, Amy never knew a stranger.

Amy was known for being real, she was fierce in her beliefs, feisty, a jokester and loyal to those she cared about. She was legendary for her hugs, she had a strength that knew no limits.   She is wrapping us all in one of her hugs right now.  Amy never wanted to lose a battle, she beat cancer, Covid and pneumonia, finally losing out to father time.
We would like to thank the staff at Creekside Landing in Vernon where Amy spent the last 10 years of her life for not only the care but also the friendships made, compassion given, laughs and teasing and appreciation of who she was as a person, there were care-aids and nurses that made her time there very special.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday May 11, 2022, at 11:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Revelstoke, with Father Vu celebrant.   Inurnment to follow in Mt. Mackenzie Columbarium of Mountain View Cemetery, Revelstoke.
