One of the first decisions you’ll have to make is to choose between burial or cremation. At Bowers, we can assist you in making this decision, whether it be based on personal preference, environmental considerations or religious reasons.

Burial Services

We offer traditional burial services at all cemeteries in and around the Salmon Arm area, as well as burial transfers to other locations. This can include a graveside service, usually conducted by a person chosen by the family. We encourage active participation by the family in helping plan all portions of the service. Family members can take part by giving a reading, a musical tribute or by reminiscing about their loved one.

Cremation Services

Everyone has their own reason for choosing cremation over a tradition burial, but the service can be just as detailed and personalized. A funeral service may take place before or after cremated. Once cremated, there are a lot of options as to how you want to best honour your loved one. Cremated remains may be placed in an urn and taken to a final resting place such as a cemetery, memorial garden, or a family member’s home.

Another option is to have the cremated remains scattered in an area special to the deceased. This could be over land, air or water, where permitted by law. If desired, cremated remains can be divided into several urns or jewelry pieces to be shared among family and friends.

Urns

Personalization isn't just about honoring your loved one's individuality. It also allows family and friends to feel connected to the services and the life being honored. We work closely with you and your family to get to know your loved one's life story so we can make their services as personal as possible. This includes the cremation container.

When a person dies the family may arrange to cremate the deceased’s body. The cremated remains are placed in a permanent container, or Urn, before being committed to a final resting place. Urns may be constructed from a variety of materials including: hardwoods like oak, cherry and mahogany; metals like bronze, copper, brass and pewter; or stone like granite, marble or cultured marble.
