We wish to announce with great sadness, the passing of our loving and wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and friend to the many wonderful and caring people who she befriended and loved so dearly throughout her long and eventful life.
Our appreciation and gratitude to the excellent staff at Hillside, Dr. Breugen, Dr. Parfitt, nurses and staff at Shuswap Lake Hospital. Annie was born November 19, 1913 in Medicine Hat, Alberta. The family homesteaded in Suffield. When 7 years old Annie went away to convent school in Medicine Hat, where she boarded with the teacher and family until her completion of Grade 11.
While in High School, she met her husband, Bill, and married at age 19.
In 1940 the family moved to BC to operate a chicken farm, 1941 they moved to New Westminster, where Bill got a job at the Box Factory. From there he became employed by the City of New Westminster as a Board of Works Foreman, until his retirement.
During their years in New Westminster, Annie ran for School Board Trustee and held the position for three years. Upon Bill’s retirement they moved to Armstrong and built their retirement home, eventually moving to Blind Bay in 1969 where their son, Ron and family resided. She enjoyed many happy years with the grandchildren whom she enjoyed and loved dearly.
Annie volunteered many hours with the Hospital Auxiliary and Senior Centre.
Annie was predeceased by her husband, Bill, July 1980, grandson, Michael, 2009.
She is survived by her son, Ron (Roseanne), grandchildren, Tom (Deb), Becky (Bill), great-grandchildren, Nichole, Alison, Cameron, Connor and Megan.
