The family are sad to announce the passing of our father Tom Smith. We are thankful for the 91 years he spent living and loving his life with family and friends alike. Tom was predeceased by wives Ruth and Cecile, son Bruce and stepson Ronald.  Dad is survived by his children Robert, Arleen and Brian.  Stepchildren (Beaulieu) Jack, Richard, Joan, Joyce, Ralph and Jimmy. (Tiernan) Henry, Louis, Neil, Richard, Sheila and Celia. Sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews,  grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Tom  was born in Scotland and immigrated to Canada with his family at the age of 5. He lived in Montreal, QC until his retirement.  Upon his retirement, Tom and Ruth decided to relocate out west to Salmon Arm and traveled throughout Canada and his native homeland. Dad loved airplanes thus one of his favourite hobbies was building model airplanes, he was also an avid reader and enjoyed camping, fishing and playing cards. Dad was a member of the Son’s of Scotland and the Okanagan Historical Society. He was on the building committee of the Fifth Avenue Seniors Activities Centre in Salmon Arm.  Tom was always friendly and enjoyed his last year at Noric House. Dad will be sadly missed by his family and friends.  Tom’s children would like to thank the staff at Noric House for their kind support over the past year.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held at Bowers Chapel on Tuesday evening, June 8th at 7 to 8 p.m.

A celebration of life service will be held at Bowers Funeral Home, Salmon Arm, on    Wednesday morning, June 9th at 11 a.m. with Jack Bowers the funeral celebrant. Interment will follow in the family plot at Mt. Ida Cemetery, with his children as pallbearers. A reception will follow at the Mountainside Room at Bowers, allowing an opportunity for the family and friends to continue sharing memories.

Memorial donations in memory of Tom may be sent to the charity of your choice.
