"Serving the community with Value and Dignity since 1947"

- Bowers Funeral Home
On January 1, 1947, the late Thomas Bowers purchased the existing funeral business from M.M. Carroll who had operated the funeral home in Salmon Arm since 1919. Thomas had built a new building in 1948 with more work done in the mid-50's and 60's. It was operated by Thomas until 1972, when his son Jack purchased the business.

[Construction of the funeral home in 1980] The funeral chapel at its present location was opened in 1980. This low angular building with its simple lines steers clear of a conventional funeral home. The interior design has bright lighting, light wood and a wheat and brown colour scheme. The exterior grounds, which are well cared for by our staff, are a source of pride for all.

The funeral home and staff are fully equipped to handle services of all types, including burial, cremation and transfers. We are committed to providing service with dignity.

[The old willow tree outside the chapel] The chapel is tastefully finished with light wood and natural lighting, and can accommodate up to 200 people. The front of the chapel has an open area, which allows room for those who wish to have pictures or other displays for a service. Another addition is the crematorium, which was opened in November 1993. The actual cremation retort, manufactured by Industrial Equipment & Engineering, came direct from the factory in Orlando, Florida. It is regulated by complex computer and safety systems, as well as pollution control standards that are monitored constantly.

Located on the West side of the funeral home, our Memorial Garden provides a peaceful setting for times of remembrance and reflection. Our latest addition is the new reception room across from the funeral home's main entrance. This facility is ideal for a time of fellowship and refreshments following a service. Lunches can be catered, from a light snack to a full-course meal.

Our staff are embalmers and directors licensed by the Province of British Columbia. Jack Bowers, who was born and raised in Salmon Arm, resides here with his wife, Gayle and two of his four children. Kevin Bolen, born in Enderby, has been with the company since 1980 and lives in Salmon Arm with his wife, Jacquie and their two children.

Jack and Kevin, together with their partner Gary Sulz, from Revelstoke, are owners of Brandon/Bowers Funeral Home in Revelstoke and Hindman/Bowers Funeral Home in Golden.
